Claudia Dalmastri graduated in Biology and got specialization in Microbiology at the University of Rome La Sapienza. She began her career at the same University at Microbiology Institute, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, and since 1988 she is a researcher at ENEA Casaccia.
Her scientific interest on environmental microbiology focused on: characterization and typing of environmental and clinical strains. Soil bacteria populations biodiversity and functions; plant growth promotion and biocontrol. Opportunistic pathogens and bacteria-host interactions. Microbiome in cystic fibrosis. Assessment of food bacterial contamination. Identification of antibiotic-producing microbial strains.
She is currently involved in epidemiologic and risk assessment studies to evaluate the impact of climate change and pollution on human health in the present and future scenarios.
She has teaching experiences in Environment, food and wine microbiology, at University LaTuscia, Viterbo; Environmental microbiology, University Roma Tre, Rome; Food microbiology and hygiene, University Roma Tre.
She is co-author of 66 scientific papers on peer reviewed journals.
