Caterina is a staff researcher of ENEA. She graduated in Biology at the University of Tuscia (Viterbo) and got the Ph.D. from the same University. Caterina worked as post-doc in NEST- Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa) and since March 2005 she has been staff researcher of the ENEA's Sustainability of Productive and Territorial Systems Department. She was visiting researcher at University of Illinois (USA, 1997-1998), at University of Heidelberg (Germany, 2000) and at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) (USA, 2012).

Her research interest is on structural bioinformatics, mainly on the simulation of biological macromolecules, nano bio-derived materials and bio-inorganic interfaces. She is currently involved in the study of the molecular mechanisms responsible of the impact of the environment on human health by using in silico methods
