Francesca Palone
Primary tabs
Francesca has graduated with honors in Medical Biotechnologies in 2007 and obtained a PhD in Reproductive and Developmental Sciences and Biotechnologies, at Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of Tor Vergata, University of Rome, in 2011. Her PhD project was mainly focused on the study the role of Pentraxin 3 (Ptx-3) in inflammatory-induced fetal loss.
From 2008 to 2011 she worked in Laboratory of Public Health and Cell Biology, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of Tor Vergata University of Rome, regarding molecular mechanisms and new therapies in female infertility and inflammatory-induced fetal loss.
From 2012 to 2014 she worked in Laboratory of Health Protection Technologies of ENEA Casaccia Research Center, Rome, with a collaboration contract for a FIRB project regarding the study of molecular mechanisms of the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory diseases.
From 2014 to 2018 she worked as Research Fellow at the Department of Pediatrics of Sapienza University of Rome, on a project about in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo study of the molecular mechanisms of chronic inflammatory processes and analysis of new markers of intestinal inflammation.
From 2018 to 2020 she won a research contract with “Fondazione AMICI Onlus” focused on the study of the molecular mechanisms of inflammatory-induced intestinal fibrosis.
Since 2021 she has a permanent position as Researcher at ENEA, Division of Health Protection Technologies.
Research areas: a) to clarify the molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of inflammatory chronic disorders to identify both new markers of inflammation and/or new therapeutic target; b) to study novel non-pharmacological strategy for the treatment of inflammatory immune-mediated diseases based on natural adjuvants; 3) to study the impact of intestinal inflammation in the pathogenesis of other chronic diseases.
